SEO News
By Tony Wright
Are you missing 40% of your customers – or 60%?
We hear it all the time: I want to get more natural rankings in search engines so I can stop spending so much money on my paid search campaign. Seems like common sense, right? If you have the listing in Google or Yahoo or MSN for free, you shouldn’t have to pay for another listing, right?
Well, most people who ask this question are surprised to hear our answer. The reality of today’s search engine landscape makes it so it’s smart to do both paid and natural search engine optimization.
I can hear you all saying it now – but Tony, that doesn’t make any sense. Are you just trying to sell me some more Zunch services? Of course I’m trying to sell you more Zunch services, but this advice is not based upon my desire to sell, but on what we’ve seen from several current search user behavioral studies.
Depending upon which study you look at, the consensus seems to be that 60% of online searchers go straight to the natural results, while 40% are more apt to look at the paid results. While this behavior can vary wildly based upon the search query that is being made, the consumers mindset and countless other factors, the fact remains – if you are not doing both paid and natural search engine marketing, you are missing out on a significant portion of qualified customers.
If you think you are spending too much on your PPC campaign, then we probably need to take a look at it. You should make money on your PPC campaign, and you should make more than enough to justify what you are spending.
So, in closing, if you aren’t running both a PPC and naturalized search campaign, please give us a call. We want you to make sure you are reaching ALL of your potential customers.
